Update 11/2023:
It is with mixed emotions that we announce Dr. Barbara Korry’s retirement.
Over her nearly 38 year career, Dr. Korry wore many hats, including horse trainer and behaviorist, ER veterinarian, and most notably, your beloved family veterinarian. During her career, she served on the board of the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association in various capacities, mentored high school students, and supported the Girls Scouts. She founded the Cowesett Animal Hospital in 1990 with a goal of providing unparalleled comprehensive and compassionate care for her patients and their families. Dr. Korry valued continuing education and was always quick to introduce cutting edge innovations to her practice. In particular, she feels fortunate to have seen the development of excellent pain management protocols, point of care blood pressure measurement and instantaneous dental radiographs. These advances have allowed her to provide a superior level of care to all of her patients. Dr. Korry also cultivated a culture of compassion, patience, and skill in her staff. She created an environment for employees that allowed their strengths and talents to develop. She made sure to create and embrace learning opportunities for all members. She leaves a legacy of dedicated, warm, giving, and compassionate people that will continue to work hard to provide excellent care for your treasured pets. She has been an inspiration to us all, will be sorely missed, and impossible to replace.
